Let's start at the beginning...
The most convenient way to fly to North Cyprus is via Turkish Airlines, with a change of planes at Istanbul's new airport which opened in October of 2018. This is certainly not a paid recommendation, however you can find flights from JFK, EWR, & Dulles for under $600 per person, each way. High season is Summer and you should add perhaps $200 for the round trip. We have also found them to offer good service and to be generous with luggage weight requirements. Turkish Airlines is not a cattle-car, discount airline, so consider it if your'e not sure.
Do I need a visa?
No, your Passport will be stamped at Passport Control and a US Passport will normally get a ninety day stamp. Some countries may only get thirty day stamps. Please check to make sure the rules haven't changed before you purchase your ticket. The maximum amount you can bring without a declaration is €10,000. We have brought much more but we're careful to declare it at both ends - no problem at Dulles or Ercan.
What about Covid-19?
North Cyprus was been quite lucky, but the rules for incoming flights have changed almost weekly so we will not even pretend to advise you here. Feel free to drop us a note (scroll down) if you want a non-expert update. For an authoritative update and legal opinion, we will put you on to the owner of a Consultancy that handles these cases professionally. A phone consultation is only a few dollars so you may want one just for piece of mind. We do not receive any compensation.
As an update, it is now required that all visitors, with only a few exceptions, complete a ten day quartine when entering the country. This is enforced even if you have had both vacciation shots. This rule should change as we enter summertime.
The Inspection Trip
We have made arrangements with the largest independent Estate Agency in the country, Busy Bees, to show you available homes. They will even pick up most of the cost of your trip if you purchase through them. Here's the offer:
- Airport Taxi Service
- Three Nights Accommodations
- Home Tour
- Up to $1000 Per Ticket for Two on The Airline of Your Choice
- The Home Must have a Sales Price of not Less Than £100k to Qualify
As this is a three night trip and you have come so very far, you may well want to extend your stay beyond three days. No problem at all! Just remember, you need to save your airline ticket receipt and make your home purchase through Busy Bees Estate Agency.
